FAQs
Have questions about working with a senior-focused content marketing consultant?
You’re in the right place. Below are answers to the most common questions I get from professionals who serve older adults and want better marketing results.
-
Unlike general marketing consultants, I bring 25+ years of direct experience working with seniors and their families, combined with 16 years of digital marketing expertise. This unique combination means I understand both the older adult market AND effective marketing strategies.
I've witnessed firsthand the communication gaps that often exist between excellent service providers and the senior clients they're trying to reach. Many marketing approaches that work for younger demographics fall flat with older adults and their families, who have different concerns, priorities, and decision-making processes.
When you work with me, you get someone who can translate your expertise into messaging that resonates with this specific audience.

I specialize in helping professionals and businesses that provide services to older adults, including:
Senior living communities and care facilities
In-home care services
Elder law attorneys
Financial advisors specializing in retirement
Healthcare providers focused on aging populations
Senior real estate specialists
Home modification and accessibility businesses
Medical equipment providers
Senior transportation services
And other businesses that primarily serve older adults and their families
If your ideal clients are seniors or their adult children, we're likely a good match.

Marketing to seniors and their families requires a different approach than marketing to younger audiences. Here's why.
Depending on your service and the specific situation, you may need to address two distinct audiences—the senior themselves AND their adult children who often participate in decision-making.
For example, a senior moving service might primarily communicate with adult children making arrangements.
However, a Medicare supplement provider might speak directly to seniors making their own healthcare decisions.
And then, a senior living community often needs to address both audiences simultaneously.
You also need to consider:
Trust factors are especially important when working with older adults.
Decision-making processes tend to be longer and more deliberate.
Common pain points and priorities differ from those of younger demographics.
Certain messaging approaches can alienate older adults or seem insensitive to their concerns.
Generic marketing often misses these nuances, leading to messaging that doesn't connect or, worse, unintentionally alienates your potential clients.

My process includes three simple steps:
Coffee Chat – We’ll meet for a free 20-minute call to talk about your business, goals, and current challenges.
Proposal with Recommendations – If we’re a good fit, I’ll follow up with a proposal outlining the best path forward to help you meet your goals.
Implementation – If you choose to move forward, I’ll begin creating the strategy or marketing content your business needs to connect with more seniors and their families.

I understand that as a service provider to seniors, your time is primarily devoted to your clients. That's why my process is designed to minimize demands on your schedule while still delivering effective results.
My approach is structured to respect your time:
I handle the website audit independently and deliver a comprehensive report with a video walkthrough that you can review at your convenience.
The strategy development phase requires some input from you, but I've streamlined this process to capture what I need efficiently.
Implementation is tailored to your preferences—you can be as involved or hands-off as you prefer.
My job is to make marketing easier for you, not add to your workload.

While I can certainly write individual emails for your business, I've found that isolated marketing pieces rarely deliver the results you're looking for. Here's why:
Effective emails need to align with your overall messaging strategy.
Without understanding your audience's journey before and after the email, even brilliantly written content may miss the mark.
The return on investment for a single email is typically much lower than a cohesive approach.
Your marketing works best when all elements work together consistently.
That said, if you have an urgent need for a specific email, I'm happy to discuss how we might make that work while still ensuring it aligns with your broader marketing goals. We can start with a Coffee Chat to explore your specific situation.

I understand that small businesses and solo practitioners have budget constraints. That's why I offer services at different investment levels:
Strategy sessions: One-time consultations to help you identify your biggest marketing opportunities and develop a plan you can implement yourself
Content audits: Review of your existing marketing materials with recommendations for improvement
Individual projects: Single pieces of content like a lead magnet, email sequence, or website refresh
Ongoing support: Comprehensive content strategy and creation on a retainer basis
We'll start with a free coffee chat to understand your needs and determine which approach makes the most sense for your business and budget.

I want you to be thrilled with the content I create for you. Here's my straightforward revision policy:
Two rounds of revisions are included in the project fee we've agreed upon
Revision requests should be submitted within 14 days of receiving the content
Specific, actionable feedback is required for revisions (e.g., "The tone feels too formal in section 2" rather than "I don't like it")
I'll implement your specific changes promptly once I receive clear feedback
There is NO CHARGE for these revisions
To ensure efficient revisions, I provide a feedback form that guides you through providing the specific input I need to improve the content. This helps us avoid vague feedback that can lead to misunderstandings and ensures you get exactly what you're looking for.
Most clients are pleased with my content when they receive it, but if you're not 100% satisfied, I'll revise it according to your specific feedback at no additional cost.
Important note: The included revisions apply to refining the approved project as originally defined. If you decide to change the project scope, target audience, or core objectives after I've begun work (for example, switching from a senior care facility website to a Medicare supplement guide), this would be considered a new project with separate pricing.

Many businesses serving seniors struggle with their marketing because they're using strategies designed for different audiences. If your previous marketing efforts didn't produce results, it was likely a messaging problem rather than an issue with your services.
My approach focuses specifically on creating messaging that resonates with seniors and their families based on my extensive experience with this demographic. I understand their concerns, fears, and decision-making processes—insights that most general marketers simply don't have.
Additionally, I prioritize strategy before implementation. Rather than jumping straight to creating content, we'll first identify exactly what your audience needs to hear and where they need to hear it. This strategic foundation is often the missing piece in unsuccessful marketing efforts.

Content marketing is a long-term strategy that builds momentum over time. While some clients see an increase in inquiries within the first month of implementing new website content or email campaigns, the full benefits typically become apparent after 3-6 months of consistent effort.
The timeline depends on several factors:
The current state of your marketing
How competitive your market is
The types of content we implement
Your sales cycle length
How consistently the strategy is executed
I'm committed to transparency, so I won't promise overnight results. What I will promise is a sustainable approach to building your authority, visibility, and client base over time.

I personally write all the content for my clients. While I may use AI tools for brainstorming, to overcome writer's block, or to get out a rough first draft, all final content is human-written, edited, and refined by me—someone with both content expertise and knowledge of the senior market.
This human touch is especially important when creating content for older adults and their families, who often have a heightened sensitivity to inauthentic or generic messaging. My experience working directly with seniors allows me to create content that genuinely speaks to their needs, concerns, and communication preferences.
